| English abstract | This article discusses the 40-year history of the Education & Society Journal, situating the political context of its emergence corresponding to the 1970s, characterized by the rise and decline of the military dictatorship in Brazil. The article then situates the mobilization of the educational field in the process of democratic openness and describes, in a third moment, the institutional framework in which occurred the foundation of the journal, presenting a possible explanation for the choice of its name. Finally, this work briefly recapits the eleven numbers with which the author contributed directly |
| Other abstract | Cet article traite des 40 ans d’histoire du magazine « Education & Society », en situant le contexte politique de son émergence correspondant aux années 1970, qui sont caractérisés par la montée et le déclin de la dictature militaire au Brésil. On situe ensuite la mobilisation du champ éducatif dans le processus d’ouverture démocratique et décrit le cadre institutionnel oú le magazine a été fondé, présentant une explication possible pour le choix de son nom « Education & Society ». | Portuguese abstract | Este artigo aborda a trajetória de 40 anos da Revista Educação & Sociedade situando o contexto político de surgimento da publicação correspondente à década de 1970, caracterizada pelo auge e declínio da ditadura militar no Brasil. Situa, na sequência, a mobilização do campo educacional no processo de abertura democrática e descreve, em um terceiro momento, o quadro institucional em que se inseriu a fundação da revista, apresentando uma possível explicação para a escolha do nome Educação & Sociedade. Por fim, retoma sucintamente os 11 números com os quais o autor contribuiu diretamente |
