| English abstract | This article talks about the relationship between the history of the cinema and the hysteria. Throughout the text, we’ll present some aspects pertaining to the evolution of both domains, proposing a crossing on the way in which these two phenomena impacted the social environment, from the second half of the nineteenth century. From there, we’ll study the way that the images can communicate with themselves, producing resonances over them and breaking boundaries in time. The corpus where this process of recreation is observed is composed by the documentary Os Mestres Loucos(1955), of Jean Rouch, and by the images recorded by the photographic service of the Hospital Salpêtrière, in Paris, at the end of nineteenth century, cataloged in the Georges Didi-‐ Huberman’s book Invention de l’Hystérie (2012) |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo trata da relação entre a história do cinema e da histeria. Ao longo do texto, são abordados aspectos concernentes à evolução de ambos os domínios, propondo-‐se um cruzamento sobre a maneira segundo a qual esses dois fenômenos impactaram o meio social a partir da segunda metade do século XIX. A partir daí, estudamos a forma com que as imagens se comunicam, produzindo ressonâncias umas sobre as outras e rompendo fronteiras temporais. O corpus onde esse processo de recriação imagética é observado é composto pelo documentário Os Mestres Loucos (1955), de Jean Rouch, bem como pelas imagens registradas pelo serviço fotográfico da Salpêtrière, em Paris, no final do século XIX, catalogadas na obra de Georges Didi-‐Huberman Invention de l’Hystérie (2012) |
