| Spanish abstract | La economía y el sistema político mexicanos vivieron importantes transformaciones en los últimos treinta años. Por un lado, se consiguió desmantelar el régimen político autoritario de partido hegemónico y sustituirlo por un auténtico sistema de partidos. En el lado de la economía, se abandonó el modelo de desarrollo orientado al mercado interno, con una importante participación del Estado, y se consolidó un modelo de economía abierta y liberalizada. Aunque coincidentes en el tiempo, los procesos de cambio político y económico no se han retroalimentado. La democratización política tuvo lugar en un periodo en que la economía registró un bajo ritmo de crecimiento y en el que se deterioró la capacidad para generar empleo de calidad. Mientras se formalizó la disputa por el poder, el empleo de la población se informalizó. El sistema democrático se enfrenta al desafío de no haber ampliado el bienestar. Atender la creación de empleo productivo es, por tanto, un tema de atención de la economía pero, también, de supervivencia para el sistema político democrático en México |
| English abstract | The economy and the Mexican political system experienced significant changes in the last thirty years. On the one hand, Mexico was able to dismantle the authoritarian regime of hegemonic party and replaced by a genuine party system. On the side of the economy, the country left behind the model of development-oriented internal market with an important participation of the state, and consolidated a model of free-trade and liberalisation. Although overlapping in time, the processes of political and economic change have not been feedback. Political democratisation took place in a period when the economy had a very low growth rate and which impairs the ability to generate quality jobs. While the political dispute by the power was formalized, most of the employment of population went to the informal sector. The democratic system is facing the challenge of not having expanded welfare. The creation of productive employment is a subject of attention from the economy, but also an item for the survival of the democratic political system in Mexico |
