| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se analiza el uso que realizan de la figura de Dios los curanderos del área urbana del Gran San Miguel de Tucumán. Se indaga, a partir de entrevistas realizadas a terapeutas populares, el valor legitimador que adquiere en su práctica terapéutica la figura de Dios. Se parte del presupuesto de que las prácticas terapéuticas funcionan dentro de un campo de fuerzas desigual, en tanto, la biomedicina se erige como la práctica médica hegemónica quedando las demás prácticas terapéuticas -entre ellas las de la medicina popular- relegadas a un lugar de subordinación. Los curanderos se saben situados en una posición de menor poder y así lo ponen de manifiesto en sus discursos. Sin embargo, se observa en los terapeutas populares una preocupación por legitimar su lugar de saber dentro del campo, para ello esgrimen estrategias de auto-validación: se presentan como intermediarios divinos que buscan hacer el bien |
| English abstract | This paper analyzes the use of God's figure by the quacks of the urban areas of Great San Miguel de Tucumán. Starting with interviews of known quacks it is enquired the genuine value that God's figure has in their therapeutic practices. It is claimed that the therapeutic practices run inside an uneven field forces: while common Biomedicine holds hegemony, other therapeutic practices - among them the ones of the quack's- are relegated to a subordinate place. Quacks know they are in a lower position with less power and they recognize so in their discourse. Nevertheless, it is seen among the quacks the preoccupation of legitimating their role of knowledge in the field. For that matter they use their own validation strategies showing themselves as a divine intermediary longing for doing good |
