| Spanish abstract | Desde la perspectiva genealógica de Michel Foucault es dable afirmar que las prescripciones dietéticas constituyen un pilar original de la ciencia médica. Sin embargo, progresivamente el foco del accionar biomédico trasciende la mítica frase hipocrática “que el alimento sea tu medicina”, para devenir en un auténtico culto de las corporalidades tipologizadas. Así, el desajuste de la realidad humana respecto a las tablas antropométricas será comunicado al paciente como “factor de riesgo”. En vistas de echar luz sobre el momento histórico en que se produce dicho pasaje el presente artículo da cuenta del modo en que la primera revista médica latinoamericana aborda la problemática. Este artículo hará foco en el número especial de marzo de 1941 "dedicado al moderno tratamiento de la obesidad" reconstruyendo, luego, diferentes señalamientos previos que dan cuenta de una amplitud argumental que funciona como sello distintivo de la publicación |
| English abstract | From the perspective of Michel Foucault's genealogy is possible to say that dietary restrictions are an original pillar of medical science. However, increasingly the focus of biomedical actions transcends the legendary Hippocratic phrase "make your food your medicine", to become a real cult of a certain typology of bodies. Thus, the mismatch of human reality with respect to the anthropometric tables will be communicated to the patient as "risk factor". In order to shed light on the historical moment in which occurs this passage our article gives an account of how the first Latin American medical journal addresses the issue. This article will focus on the special issue March 1941 "dedicated to the modern treatment of obesity" rebuilding, then, different basis that account for a broad argument that serves as a hallmark of the publication |
