English abstract | This paper explores a specific feature of the distributive politics approach to legislative studies, as originally presented by David Mayhew: the bias towards suboptimal public expenditures (i.e., ranging above the overall cost of the taxes financing them). After contrasting Mayhew´s and Arnold´s attempts to theoretically framing this issue, we discuss the effects of the proposed solutions on the applicability of distributive theory as a whole |
