English abstract In the section dedicated to the analysis of the passage of the Bible about Pilate’s judgment of Jesus (volume II of the book Jesus of Nazareth), Joseph Ratzinger, better known as Pope Benedict XVI, emphasizes the serious implications for human existence of insisting on a pragmatic answer to the question “What is truth?”, formulated at the time by the Roman procurator. In another context, the Colombian Commission of Jurists also raises the question of the definition of truth in its book Verdad, justicia y reparación. Algunas preguntas y respuestas (2006) [Truth, Justice, and Reparation. Questions and Answers]. These totally different sources are used in the article to contrast Ratzinger’s argument with the psychoanalytical perspective on truth introduced by Lacan in Seminar 17, The Reverse Side of Psychoanalysis
