| Spanish abstract | Este artículo contiene un análisis sociocrítico del espacio en la novela La región más transparente, del recién fallecido escritor Carlos Fuentes. El estudio se realizó en el marco de una investigación más amplia que incluyó el análisis de otras grandes novelas mexicanas del siglo XX, y en la que, de manera implícita, seguimos los lineamientos teóricos y metodológicos de: la Teoría Sociocrítica del francés Claude Duchet; la teoría narrativa de la Escuela de París; las teorías de la novela de los pensadores marxistas y la del investigador ruso Mijail Bajtín, así como la Teoría de las representaciones sociales según los franceses Jean-Claude Abric y Denisse Jodelet. En un sentido, el artículo se propone responder a la pregunta esencial: ¿Cómo describen, viven y se representan el espacio de la ciudad de México los personajes centrales y los narradores de esta novela?; en otro, destacar que, desde hace medio siglo, La región más transparente nos dio las claves de hacia dónde conducían al país los gobiernos posrevolucionarios. | English abstract | This paper contains a sociocritical analysis of La region más transparente, by the recently deceased writer Carlos Fuentes. The study was conducted within the framework of a wider research which included the analysis of other great twentieth century Mexican novels. This is carried out based on theoretical and methodological guidelines of Claude Duchet's Sociocriticism theory, the narrative theory of the school of Paris, the theories on the novel of Marxist thinkers and the Russian researcher Mikhail Bakhtin , as well as the theory of social representations in the perspective of Jean-Claude Abric and Denise Jodelet. In this sense, the article intends to answer the central question: how do the central characters and the narrator of this novel describe, live and represent the space of the city of Mexico? On the other hand, I wish to point out that, half a century ago, La region más transparente provided us with the clues to understand the direction to where the country was led by post revolutionary Governments.
