| Spanish abstract | Este artículo pretende trazar un primer panorama sobre las religiones afroamericanas en México. Retoma los principales hallazgos etnográficos más relevantes y también más accesibles, sobre el tema y demuestra cómo estas religiones, que no son una herencia de la esclavitud en México, florecen en un subsuelo sociocultural fértil que se ancla en la colonia y que da pie a la complementariedad e innovación en una multiplicidad de relocalizaciones en el contexto contemporáneo. Asimismo se delinean las principales mediaciones en la imagen y circulación de estas religiones, que llegaron al país después de la segunda mitad del siglo xx, así como sus principales relocalizaciones. Se toma como caso particular el de la santería cubana como una ilustración etnográfica y la cual ha sido hasta el momento la más difundida y estudiada |
| English abstract | This essay attempts to portray the first panorama about Afro-American religions and their main studies in Mexico. It summarizes the main ethnographic results about Afro american religions and demonstrates how these religions flourish in a fertile cultural subsoil anchored in the colonial period that led to diverse complementarities between Afro amerian religions and mexican ancient practices and belief systems in the contemporary period. The article also draws the main reresentations of these religions and their circulation in Mexico where they arrived in the second half of the 20th century. The article chooses Santería as the most representative ethnographic example of this process |
