| English abstract | The material aspects of gauchesca literature —a genre aiming, from its inception at the dawn of independent life in the Río de la Plata, to encompass popular voice— have been rather ignored by the critics. This article explores the early stages of the issue, from 1818 to 1830. The aesthetic and material features of some gauchesco texts are analyzed from the standpoint that they were part of a circuit of production , printing and selling in which the texts occurred as precarious sheets of paper for many decades before being published as a book |
