| Spanish abstract | Este artículo expone algunas reflexiones que dan cuenta de las indagaciones realizadas en registros documentales de archivos y/o fondos 2 regionales de Chile, centrando la información en el caso de Antofagasta. El objetivo de la pesquisa fue rastrear, rescatar y analizar fuentes históricas que contuvieran información sobre la presencia de mujeres, niñas y niños en el mercado de trabajo chileno vinculado con la empresa moderna, durante el periodo 1880-1930. La investigación realizada ha permitido hacer una evaluación de carácter heurístico, acerca de los tipos, la cuantía y calidad de las fuentes históricas contenidas, e inferir la viabilidad o no de construir conocimiento histórico acerca del trabajo femenino e infantil en contextos de modernización |
| English abstract | This article provides some reflections that show the inquiries carried out on documentary records of archives and/or Chilean regional founds, focusing the information on the Antofagasta case. The objective of this research was to investigate, recover, and analyze historic sources which contained information about the presence of women, girls, and boys in the Chilean labor market linked with the modern enterprise during the period between 1880 and 1930. The research has allowed making a heuristic evaluation about the type, magnitude, and quality of the historic sources contained, and deduce the viability or the impossibility of building a historic knowledge about women and child labor on the context of modernization |
