| Spanish abstract | La edad de Sargassum sinicola Setchell y Gardner puede ser estimada contando el número de marcas o cicatrices en el estipe o por la longitud de este. Se muestra que otros dos metodos no son útiles. S. sinicola inició su etapa repro P uctora en dos meses, lo cual es el tiempo menor reportado para especies de Sargassum. La similitud de los rizoides de una planta adulta de S. camouii y el de pl$.ntulas de S. sinicola apoyan la idea de Norris (1975), de hacer una sinonimia de ambas, bajo S. sinicola |
| English abstract | The age of Sargassum sinicok Setchell and Gardner plants can be estimated by counting the number of scars on the main axis or by measuring the length of this axis. Two other methods have shown that they are not useful. Tb9 onset pf reproduction at about the age of two months, is less than the time reported for other Sargacsum species. The similaxity in the holdfast of an adult S. camouii and that of a young S. sinicola gives support to Norris’ idea (1975) of including them as a synonymy |
