| Spanish abstract | El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la prevalencia de obesidad en escolares en Nuevo León, mediante el índice de masa corporal, en una muestra de 116 escuelas entre 3 911 de la Secretaría de Educación de Nuevo León durante 2008- 2009; 2009-2010. El porcentaje de preescolares hombres, sumados obesidad y sobrepeso es 23.3, mayor que las mujeres con 19.0. En primarias, los valores en el mismo orden son 41.0 y 34.0 y en secundarias 39.3 y 34.0. El área metropolitana presenta mayor obesidad que el resto del estado |
| English abstract | The objective is to determine the prevalence of obesity in school students using the body mass index. The sample was taken from 116 out of the 3,911 schools that belong to the public school system of the state of Nuevo León, during the school cycles of 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. The percentage of preschool boys who are overweight or obese is 23.3%, which is higher than girls with 19.0%. The Values in elementary school, in the same order are 41.0% and 34.0%; at the middle school level they are 39.3% and 34.0%. The metropolitan area has higher values of obesity than the rest of the state |
