| Spanish abstract | Durante los últimos 10 años se realizó un estudio florístico de la familia Arecaceae, de acuerdo a las formaciones vegetales y la altitud en la región sureste de la provincia de Cienfuegos en el macizo montañoso Guamuaya, con el objetivo de caracterizar las especies de palmas presentes. El trabajo abarcó nueve localidades en las que la presencia de especies de este género se determinó mediante el método de observación, las colectas se realizaron de forma aleatoria e intensiva, teniendo en cuenta los micro hábitats donde progresan este grupo de plantas. Se hallaron seis especies, dos endémicas locales, una endémica nacional y tres autóctonas, de ellas una posible nueva especie para la flora de Cuba, habitando mayormente en los bosques siempre verdes mesófilos, entre los 50 y 300 msnm |
| English abstract | During the last 10 years one carries out a study florístico of the family Arecaceae, according to the vegetable formations and the altitude in the southeast region of the county of Cienfuegos in the solid mountainous Guamuaya, with the objective of characterizing the species of present palms. The work embraces nine towns in those that the presence of species of this gender was determined by means of the observation method, the collections were carried out in an aleatory and intensive way, keeping in mind the micro hábitats where they progress this group of plants. They were six species, two endemic local, an endemic one national and three autochthonous, of them a possible new species for the flora of Cuba, inhabiting the forests mostly always green mesófilo, between the 50 and 300 msnm |
