| Spanish abstract | La duración de un proceso de tránsito migratorio responde a diversos factores, y en el caso de la migración centroamericana hacia Estados Unidos existen evidencias que señalan un aumento en las dificultades de este desplazamiento. A consecuencia de estas interrupciones, el tiempo destinado al tránsito puede ser más largo de lo esperado. Los objetivos de este artículo son analizar la duración del viaje a través de México e identificar qué ciudades del norte del país se han convertido en lugares de espera antes de cruzar la frontera de Estados Unidos y cuánto tiempo permanecen los migrantes en ellas. Los principales resultados señalan una tendencia al aumento de la espera en ciudades del noreste mexicano, así como un mayor tiempo de tránsito generalizado por México |
| English abstract | The length of a transitmigration process depends on several factors, andin the case of Central American migration to the United States some evidence suggests an increase in the difficulties encountered in transit because of such interruptions, the time spent in transit may be longer than expected the goal of this article is twofold; to analyze the length of the journey through Mexico, and to identify the northern border cities that have become places of waiting before crossing the border, assessing the amount of time that migrants stay there the main results indicate a trend of increased waiting in northern border cities, as well as a greater amount of time spent on the transit process through Mexico |
