| English abstract | Swearing is the act of aggression by the use of insulting words aiming to abuse the listener. However, what is considered as being an insulting word depends on the cultural values and on what is expected from the individuals who belong to it. Accordingly, swearwords are cultural symptoms, constituting a bridge to the search for values which are repeated in them and placed in act. That is, the swearword points to the social place that should not be occupied by the individual. Accordingly, it plays an important role of microphysics of power. The present work aimed to make a survey of the swearwords considered most offensive by groups of adult men and women, higher education students from public and private colleges in Brasília. We aimed to survey if there would be, and in positive case, what are the values related to masculinity in our culture |
| Portuguese abstract | Xingar é o ato de agredir por meio de palavras insultuosas tendo a intenção de ofender o ouvinte. No entanto, o que é considerado como palavra insultuosa depende dos valores da cultura e do que se espera dos sujeitos que dela fazem parte. Neste sentido, os xingamentos são sintomas culturais, constituindo- se como ponte para a pesquisa dos valores que neles se repetem e se colocam em ato. Isto é, o xingamento aponta para o lugar social que não deve ser ocupado pelo sujeito. Exerce, desta forma, um importante papel de microfísica do poder. O presente trabalho teve como escopo fazer um levantamento dos xingamentos considerados mais ofensivos por um grupo de homens e mulheres adultas, estudantes do ensino superior público e particular em Brasília. Buscou-se levantar se havia e, caso houvesse, quais seriam os valores relacionados à masculinidade em nossa cultura. |
