| Spanish abstract | Los aspectos técnicos en el estudio de la arquitectura histórica resultan fundamentales para el desarrollo de técnicas com-patibles de intervención que, por su origen, suelen ser más respetuosas y menos impactantes. En el caso de la ingeniería hidráulica virreinal, permiten comprender el funcionamiento en el pasado de este tipo de elementos para obtener datos del vestigio que observamos mediante el análisis de sus componentes, los cuales de otro modo pasarían inadvertidos. Aquí se presentan dos casos: las letrinas en el santo desierto de Cuajimalpa y la hacienda San Juan Molino en Tlaxcala, ambos ejemplos avanzados de aislamiento hídrico y térmico. Con su estudio entendemos que los abundantes vestigios que en-contramos en nuestro país contienen más información de la que se aprecia a simple vista |
| English abstract | Technical topics in the study of historical architecture are fundamental for the development of compatible intervention tech-niques that, for their origin, tend to be more respectful and with less of an impact. In the case of viceregal hydraulic engineer-ing, it is possible, through the analysis of its components, to understand the operation of this type of element in the past to obtain data on the vestiges, data that would otherwise go unnoticed. Two cases are presented: the latrines of the holy desert of Cuajimalpa and the San Juan mill in Tlaxcala, both advanced examples of water and thermal insulation. With their anal-yses we can understand how the abundant vestiges that we find in our country contain more information than can be seen at first glance |
