English abstract | This article addresses an architectural element today known as a skyway (an elevated pedestrian walkway), permitting a raised crossing from one building to another, not to be confused with a bridge. Although they fulfill the same purpose, they differ in symbolic and social terms. The appearance of this architectural element in the urban milieu appeared in Córdoba in the ninth century, when the Iberian Peninsula was under Arab rule. Its presence continued for hundreds of years, which included a modest appearance in Mexico and Guatemala during the viceroyalty |
