| Spanish abstract | El monasterio dominico de Santa Inés de Montepulciano de Santafé de Bogotá, fundado en 1645 y aún activo, conserva bue- na parte del patrimonio pictórico reunido desde el siglo xvii , pese a diversos factores adversos, como la exclaustración de las religiosas en 1863 y las mudanzas hechas por el monasterio dentro de la ciudad en el siglo xx . La colección pictórica inesita es un caso único en el patrimonio colombiano, pues su acervo de más de 200 obras posee diversas iconografías y formatos, en cuyo conocimiento se puede profundizar mediante la consulta en los archivos documentales y bibliográficos, los cuales han sido preservados con cuidado por las propias religiosas. Con base en estas particularidades, aquí se presenta el recorrido histórico del patrimonio pictórico sobreviviente que se ha logrado restablecer de modo fragmentario desde 2007, a fin de dar cuenta de una primera comprensión general del conjunto a partir de las iconografías que lo componen |
| English abstract | he Dominican convent of Santa Inés de Montepulciano in Santa Fe de Bogota, founded in 1645 and still active, still re- tains much of its pictorial heritage held since the 17th century, despite adversities such as the exclaustration of the nuns in 1863 and the various relocations of the convent in the city in the twentieth century. The painting collection of these nuns constitute a unique case in Colombian patrimony because their collection of more than two hundred works include diverse iconographic subjects and formats, knowledge of which is enhanced by documentary and bibliographic archives that have also been carefully safeguarded by the sisters. Based on these distinctive features, the article presents the his- torical journey of the surviving pictorial heritage, which it has been possible to piece together since 2007, to offer a pre- liminary overall understanding of the body of work based on its iconography |
