English abstract | The following paper proposes an approach to an assessment of the relevant aspects of funereal spaces. Information was gathered from experiences in the Municipal Public Cemetery in the town of Ituzaingo, Corrientes, Argentina. Fieldwork includes research over a period between years 2006 to 2015. During this time interviews, observations and records were uploaded to various digital devices. "Death Revisited" enables the consideration of funereal spaces as containing memories of the deceased. Elements of ancestor worship, symbols of collective religious life, as well as memories of death as an everyday occurrence are discussed along with symbols of the supernatural as they are portrayed in art. Such practices and ritual performance may be included under the head of thanatosemeiosis (Bondar, 2012) a compound word from the Greek coined to indicate creative and communicative processes between the dead and the living |
