| English abstract | This work aims to present and disseminate technologies for the cocoa cultivation (Theobroma cacao L.) in Ceará state, Brazil. The information contained in the text are results of experimentation and field experience of the authors who work in the Ministry of Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA), who are on the Department of Executive Committee of the Cacao Plan - Ceplac-BA and the Agribusiness Union in Jaguaribe Valley - Univale and Frutacor Farm. The reader will find information about genetic material “clones”, plant water needs, pruning, shade management, harvesting and cultural dealings. The results of the research aim to help the farmers to implant cultivation areas considering the experience of six years of observations in the region of the municipality of Russas-CE. Even with the good results verified until now, it must be emphasized that the research is not finished and that as will be seen in the text there are still some technological problems for the definitive recommendation of cacao cultivation in the Ceará state. The work has been developed with information accessible to technicians, businessmen, students of agricultural sciences and researchers, and is expected to help farmers in order to awaken them to the possibility of growing cacao, but also the possibility of generation sufficient income to ensure economic sustainability of the farmers |
| Portuguese abstract | Este trabalho objetiva apresentar e divulgar tecnologias para cultivo do cacaueiro (Theobroma cacao L.) no estado do Ceará, Brasil. As práticas abordadas e informações contidas no texto são resultados da experimentação agrícola e vivência de campo dos autores que atuam no Ministério da Agricultura Pecuária e do Abastecimento – MAPA, lotados na Comissão Executiva do Plano da Lavoura Cacaueira – Ceplac-BA e técnicos da União dos Agronegócios no Vale do Jaguaribe – Univale e da Fazenda Frutacor. O leitor encontrará informações sobre material genético “clones”, necessidades hídricas da planta, poda e manejo de sombra plantio, colheita e tratos culturais. Os resultados da pesquisa objetivam auxiliar o produtor a implantar áreas de cultivo considerando a experiência de seis anos de observações na região do Tabuleiro de Russas-CE. Mesmo com os bons resultados verificados até o momento, deve-se destacar que a pesquisa não está concluída e que como se verá no texto ainda existem gargalos tecnológicos para que se recomende em definitivo o cultivo do cacaueiro no estado do Ceará. O trabalho foi elaborado com informações acessíveis a técnicos, empresários, estudantes de ciências agrárias e pesquisadores, espera-se que ajude os agricultores no intuito de despertá-los para a possibilidade de cultivar o cacaueiro, mas, sobretudo, possibilitar a geração de renda suficiente para garantir sustentabilidade econômica das propriedades |
