| Spanish abstract | Las aproximaciones sobre el análisis de la producción científica en el área de Biblioteconomía, están caracterizadas por una tendencia marcada a los análisis cuantitativos. Los estudios sobre producción científica en revistas, basados en índices de citas, creados por Eugene Garfield (1955), al considerar los hábitos de citación como principal factor de análisis, sin duda muy importantes, ofrecen solo la dimensión cuantitativa de la investigación (Buela-Casal, 2003), quedando un vacío en la visión desde el enfoque cualitativo para analizar el fenómeno. El artículo que aquí se presenta es un acercamiento a las dimensiones de la actividad científica, la metodología de evaluación y sus limitaciones |
| English abstract | The approaches to the analysis of the scientific output in the Librarianship area, are characterized by a marked tendency to quantitative analysis. Studies on scientific production in journals, based on citation indexes, created by Eugene Garfield (1955), to consider the citation habits as the main factor analysis, certainly are very important, they offer only the quantitative dimension of research (Buela Casal, 2003), leaving a void in the view from the qualitative approach to analyze the phenomenon. This article presented here is an approach to the dimensions of scientific activity, the evaluation methodology and its limitations |
