| Spanish abstract | El artículo presenta la historia de una mujer del siglo x, que vivió en Europa Central. Fue eremita, visionaria y santa, gozando de gran popularidad en los cantones suizos. De gran humildad, vivió entregada al servicio de los que menos tenían, quienes encontraban en ella desde alimentos y consuelo hasta asistencia médica. Ya una vez enclaustrada en el monasterio de San Galo se dedicó a aconsejar a cuantos llegaban hasta ella; el resto del tiempo lo dedicaba a la oración y al trabajo ornamental de los códices y manuscritos de la biblioteca del monasterio. Gracias a sus dotes visionarias pudo alertar a los monjes del monasterio, sobre la invasión húngara, lo que les permitió ponerse a salvo junto con la rica biblioteca que poseían. Por eso es venerada en esas regiones como patrona de los bibliotecarios |
| English abstract | The article presents the story of a x Century woman who lived in Central Europe. She was a hermitess, visionary and saint, of great popularity in the Swiss Cantons. She was a woman of great humility, who devoted her life to the service of the most needy who found in her food, spiritual comfort and even medical assistance. Once she became a recluse in St. Gall’s monastery, she devoted herself to giving advice to all those who approached her. The rest of her time was dedicated to prayer and ornamental painting of the monastery’s library codexes and manuscripts. Thanks to her visionary gifts she was able to warn the monks about the imminent Hungarian invasion, which allowed them to save themselves and the rich library they owned. These are the reasons why she is revered as the Patron Saint of librarians |
