| Spanish abstract | La siguiente investigación presenta el tema del desarrollo sostenible y cómo esta corriente se ha relacionado con las bibliotecas. Para ejemplificar este punto, se presentan varios estudios realizados con la idea de aplicar este enfoque en diferentes bibliotecas, ocasionando el surgimiento de las bibliotecas verdes, es decir, bibliotecas diseñadas para minimizar el impacto negativo en el medio ambiente. Esto con el propósito de tener un panorama general que permita entender cómo se ha llevado a cabo esta idea del desarrollo sostenible en el estado de Yucatán. Para lograrlo, se realizaron una serie de entrevistas al personal de cinco bibliotecas ubicadas en la ciudad de Mérida. Los resultados arrojan que la entidad todavía tiene un largo camino que recorrer para que sus bibliotecas operen bajo el concepto del desarrollo sostenible. Sin embargo, ya se están dando los primeros pasos hacia este camino |
| English abstract | The following research introduces the problem of sustainable development and how this trend has been linked to libraries. In order to illustrate this point, several studies with the idea of applying this approach in different libraries are presented, leading to the emergence of green libraries, which are libraries designed to minimize the negative impact on the environment. This should provide an overview for understanding how the idea of sustainable development has been carried out in Yucatan. To achieve this, a series of interviews with the staff of five libraries, located in Merida city are made. The results show that libraries in Yucatan still have a long way to go to achieve a sustainable development. However, they are already taking the first steps to this path |
