| Spanish abstract | Para llegar a la valoración y tasación de un libro antiguo es necesario −primero− identificarlo y describirlo y −segundo− catalogarlo. Este artículo trata sobre los primeros pasos que tienen que hacerse en la descripción antes de llegar a su catalogación para finalmente valorarlo. El libro Siete Partidas, incunable fechado en 1491, del cual se dudaba de su autenticidad, se vio sometido a muy diferentes pruebas con igual número de especialistas que validaran su antigüedad, entre las que destacan: testificar la antigüedad del papel, realizar estudios sobre su tipografía, contrastar el libro con otras obras emanadas del mismo taller de impresión de la época o con otros ejemplares procedentes de la misma edición, así como la aplicación de técnicas altamente especializadas no intrusivas que se realizaron en el Instituto de Física de la unam. La suma de todas ellas dio como resultado la constatación fehaciente de su calidad de incunable |
| English abstract | To attain the valuation and appraisal of ancient old book it is necessary, first, to identify and describe it and, second, catalog it. This article is about the first steps that have to be made in the description, before cataloging to finally appraise it. The book Siete Partidas an incunabulum dated 1491, whose authenticity was questioned, was subjected to very different tests, with an equal number of experts to validate its age, among which stand out testifying the age of the paper, performing studies on its typography, contrasting the book with other works by the same pressroom of that time or other specimens from the same edition, as well as the application of highly specialized nonintrusive techniques performed at the unam Institute of Physics. The sum of all of them resulted in a clear demonstration of its quality of an incunabulum |
