| Spanish abstract | El estudio explora una vertiente de la obra multifacética de uno de los humanistas mexicanos más reconocidos en el mundo: Alfonso Reyes. Poeta, ensayista, narrador, dramaturgo y diplomático, es uno de los pensadores más importantes del siglo XX y referente de la cultura mexicana. Se ha escrito mucho acerca de su legado, su estilo, géneros y temas abordados, sin embargo, este trabajo recupera la labor y relación que Don Alfonso Reyes tuvo como un conocedor del libro, su historia y las bibliotecas, se divide en tres apartados: el primero describe su vida y obra; el segundo, dedicado a la asociación llamada El Ateneo de la Juventud y sus maestros y el último a una sección de su obra titulada Libros y libreros de la antigüedad, en donde las aportaciones de Reyes al terreno de la bibliotecología merecen ser conocidas, revisadas y revaloradas |
| English abstract | The study explores a side of the multifaceted work of one of the most worldwide recognized Mexican humanists: Alfonso Reyes. Poet, essayist, narrator, playwright and diplomat, he is one of the most important thinkers of the 20tth century and a referent of the Mexican culture. Much has been said about his legacy, his style, genres and the themes he dealt with, however, the study recalls the work and relationship that Mr. Alfonso Reyes had as a scholar, expert on books, their history and libraries. The study is divided on three sections: The first one describes his life and work, the second is dedicated to the association called “El Ateneo de la Juventud” and his teachers and the last one is dedicated to a section called “Books and bookshelves of yore” in which the contributions of Reyes to the library science domain deserve to be acknowledged, revisited and revalued |
