| Spanish abstract | El autor analiza a profundidad la llamada Época de Oro del cine mexicano a través de una de sus figuras emblemáticas, Ismael Rodríguez. La Revolución y Pancho Villa para Ismael Rodríguez fueron sólo un pretexto para mostrar su profundo conservadurismo, reiterando la presentación del tono folclórico de la oposición que hipócritamente se muestra entre la “civilización” y “lo primitivo”. Documentado con bibliografía de la época, el artículo muestra cómo el director que creía identificarse con el pueblo, en el fondo no podía ocultar su desprecio por ese mismo pueblo, disfrazando su condescendencia con una supuesta complicidad. La construcción de una identidad nacional a partir de una serie de filmes nos muestra cómo se construye una “mexicanidad” cómplice del sistema dominante |
| English abstract | The author analyzes the so called “golden time of the Mexican cinema” through one of its iconic figures, Ismael Rodríguez, for whom the Mexican revolution and the figure of Pancho Villa were only an excuse to show his profound right-wing thinking. He worked the folkloric tone show between the “civilization” and the “primitive” worlds. Documented with bibliography from the time, the article gives a good glimpse on how the film director, who believed he had a strong identification with the Mexican people, quite deep in his mind could not hide his contempt for that very people, making up his hypocrisy with an assumed complicity. The construction of a national identity is shown in a serial of films thorough which it is build a “Mexican” identity, part and parcel of the dominant political system |
