| Spanish abstract | Dada la historia de América Latina, iniciada con su lucha por independizarse de las potencias coloniales y prolongada hasta nuestros días con el resurgimiento del movimiento popular y la recuperación de la utopía, que recoge el ancestral empeño emancipador y reafirma la certeza de “otro mundo posible”, uno de los ejes del modo de teorizar la realidad latinoamericana ha sido el cambio social. A lo largo del siglo xx, en América Latina se ha desarrollado un pensamiento crítico que ha llevado la reflexión teórica hasta sus últimas consecuencias en busca de explicaciones sobre cómo y hacia dónde habría de transcurrir su transformación. En ese esfuerzo teórico-práctico ha estado presente siempre la izquierda, y en particular las diversas expresiones marxistas. | English abstract | The history of Latin America began with their struggle for independence from colonial powers and prolonged to our days with the resurgence of popular movement and the recovery of utopia that reflects ancestral emancipatory efforts and reaffirms that “a different world is possible”, one of the main ways of theorizing has been the Latin American social change. Throughout the twentieth century in Latin America has been developed a critical thinking that has led theory to its logical conclusion in search for explanations of how it had to be transformed and which direction would it follow. In this theoretical and practical effort the left wing has always been present, particularly the various Marxists expressions.
