| Spanish abstract | El Premio Nobel de Química del 2008 ha sido otorgado a Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie y Roger Y. Tsien por el descubrimiento y el desarrollo de la proteína verde fluorescente (o GFP, por sus siglas en inglés, "green fluorescent protein"). El uso de proteínas fluorescentes para estudiar procesos químicos en células vivas es hoy en día un método de gran importancia en la biomedicina. | English abstract | The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2008 has been awarded to Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie and Roger Y. Tsien for the discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein (GFP). The use of fluorescent proteins to study chemical processes in living cells has become a very important method in biomedicine.
