| Spanish abstract | El centro histórico de la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba es depositario de altos valores históricos, arquitectónicos, sociales y ambientales que se ven afectados por las acciones de intervención emprendidas por la población residente, lo cual ocasiona la transformación irreversible de grandes áreas de viviendas, haciéndolas vulnerables tanto en el ámbito urbano como en el arquitectónico y afecta la capacidad de respuesta de la ciudad y la recuperación rápida de los deterioros originados por un evento sísmico. Los bienes patrimoniales del territorio, en especial las viviendas, están en un alto riesgo de perderse dada su antigüedad, su elevado grado de deterioro y los gustos de la población residente |
| English abstract | Old central area of Santiago de Cuba city has significant historical, architectural, social and environmental values that are affected by the actions of the resident population. These actions cause the irreversible transformation of big areas of housing, making them vulnerable in the urban and architectural aspects; they also affect the ability the city has to recuperate from deteriorations originated by a seismic event. Heritage property in the territory, especially housing, has high risk to disappear due to its age, its high level of deterioration and the likes of the resident population |
