| Spanish abstract | A través del presente artículo se ha realizado un acercamiento a la historia del edificio que hoy ocupa La Casa de las Américas. El objeto principal de análisis es la relación que existe entre esta institución y su sede a partir de la caracterización del momento histórico en que surge y evoluciona. Otros temas abordados son las codificaciones Art Deco que conforman la imagen externa del edificio, la relación de este con el contexto urbano que lo contiene, así como la significación cultural que ha alcanzado. A pesar del restringido acceso a la información histórica sobre el inmueble se han podido establecer los elementos esenciales necesarios para la comprensión integral de este objeto arquitectónico |
| English abstract | This document is about the history of the Casa de Las Americas’ building. One of the main topics is the relation between this continental institution and its headquarter building. There is also an analysis of the historical moments of the building’s evolution and its external Art Deco appearance. Its relation whit the urban context and the important cultural symbol it has became. It was not possible to find so much historical information about this building, but it´s enough of it to understand a little this project |
