| English abstract | In this paper I intend to investigate a very recurring subject matter in contemporary fi ction, the one in which the act of narrating appears along with the questioning of the fi ctional aspect of reality itself. In order to do so I will use some elements from Walter Benjamin’s work on the passage from traditional narrative knowledge to modern fi ction, taking his remarks on Edgar Allan Poe’s detective short stories, and Carlo Ginzburg’s theory on the construction of narratives as an indiciary knowledge. I bring this discussion into focus in order to interpret Rubens Figueiredo’s novel Barco a seco |
| Portuguese abstract | Retomando elementos da obra de Walter Benjamin sobre a passagem do saber narrativo tradicional para a prosa fi ccional moderna, em especial suas observações a respeito do conto policial de Edgar Allan Poe, e também a teoria de Carlo Ginzburg sobre a constituição da narrativa como saber indiciário, procuramos investigar um aspecto recorrente da literatura fi ccional contemporânea, na qual o ato de narrar surge em conjunto com uma problematização da fi ccionalidade do real.
