| Spanish abstract | Por más de cien años se han realizado exploraciones arqueológicas en Teotihuacán, entre ellas las de los túneles en el interior de edi-ficios antiguos. En este trabajo se resalta la diferencia entre los túneles excavados por los investigadores y los de los pobladores de la gran urbe. En orden cronológico se enlistan los identificados en Teotihuacán, detallando los descubiertos en la pirámide del Sol, concluyendo que, después de una centuria, en general se tiene escaso conocimiento de esta edificación. De hecho, los estudios, incluyendo los de los 376.20 metros de túneles, no han producido investigaciones sistemáticas, se han estudiado poco los materiales recuperados y, en algunos casos, estos últimos se perdieron. Por último, se conocen contados y escuetos informes de trabajo, y se añade a esto, los problemas de conservación provocados por el abandono de los túneles después de su exploración |
| English abstract | Ample archaeological projects have been carried out at Teotihuacan for over a hundred years, including explorations of tunnels in the interiors of ancient structures. This article highlights the difference between archaeological tunnels dug by investigators, and the ancient tunnels dug by the inhabitants of the great urban center. The archaeological tunnels at Teotihuacan are considered in chronological order, detailing those excavated at the Pyramid of the Sun, and concluding, among other things, that in general, after a century of exploration, the knowledge we have gained regarding this massive structure is slight. The majority of the undertakings, including the digging of 376.20 meters of tunnels, have not resulted in systemic research. The recovered materials are little studied, and in some cases, lost. The known reports are few and brief. Adding to this are all the tremendous conservation problems generated by the abandonment of the tunnels after their investigation |
