Spanish abstract Evaluar el grado de aceptación de la Intervención Farmacéutica a prescripciones potencialmente inadecuadas identificadas mediante criterios STOPP/START en pacientes geriátricos diabéticos hospitalizados en una institución de salud de tercer nivel en Cartagena-Colombia. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio prospectivo de intervención a las prescripciones potencialmente inadecuadas identificadas mediante criterios STOPP/START durante un año, a pacientes con diabetes mellitus Resultados: La población estaba compuesta de pacientes pluripatológicos, en los que destacó HTA, enfermedad renal, como las comorbilidades más prevalentes. Debido a la complejidad de este tipo de paciente y la alta demanda de medicamentos en el tratamiento de las comorbilidades se presentaron prescripciones potencialmente inapropiadas. El grado de aceptación de las intervenciones fue del 97,21% por parte del cuerpo médico. Conclusión: El grado de aceptación de las intervenciones realizadas de acuerdo a los criterios STOPP/START sugiere que estos criterios son una herramienta importante para mejorar la terapia farmacológica
English abstract Evaluate the degree of acceptance of the Pharmaceutical Intervention to potentially inappropriate prescription identified by STOPP/START criteria in geriatric diabetic patients hospitalized at a third-level health institution in CartagenaColombia. Materials and methods: A prospective intervention study was carried out on the potentially inadequate prescriptions identified by STOPP/START criteria for a year, in patients with diabetes mellitus. Results: The population was composed of multipathological patients, in which HT, kidney disease were the most prevalent comorbidities. Due to the complexity of this type of patient and the high demand for drugs in the treatment of comorbidities appear potentially inappropriate prescription. The degree of acceptance of the interventions was 97.21% by the medical staff. Conclusion: The degree of acceptance of the interventions carried out according to the STOPP/START criteria suggests that these criteria are an important tool to improve pharmacological therapy
