| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se problematiza la relación entre la violencia y la democracia con el objeto de demostrar que ellas no son excluyentes sino que son categorías codependientes. Para ello se estudian las diferentes formas de violencia ejercidas durante la historia reciente de Argentina a través de fuentes secundarias considerando tanto datos cuantitativos como cualitativos. El problema se aborda desde una perspectiva teórica post estructuralista utilizando los conceptos de violencia política subjetiva, sistémica y simbólica. Se concluye que han sido muy pocos los gobiernos democráticos argentinos que han desplegado bajos niveles de violencia política subjetiva. A pesar de ello, la articulación del Estado, la Nación, la idea de lo popular y la democracia han regulado la violencia entre diferentes colectivos políticos. | English abstract | This article discusses the relationship between violence and democracy in order to demonstrate that they are not mutually exclusive but are codependent categories. In order to do this, the different forms of violence exercised during the recent history of Argentina are studied through secondary sources, considering both quantitative and qualitative data. The problem is approached from a post-structuralist theoretical perspective using the concepts of subjective, systemic and symbolic political violence. The article concludes that there have been very few Argentine democratic governments that have displayed low levels of subjective political violence. In spite of this, the articulation of the State with the Nation, the idea of the popular and democracy regulated the violence between different political groups. However, other variables emerged that restrict this process |
