| Spanish abstract | La construcción colectiva de la vejezde acuerdo con la imagen cinematográfica yano gira en torno a la muerte como referenteprincipal de esa etapa de vida, sino en tornoa los nuevos retos y problemas que el ancia-no enfrenta consigo mismo, con sus familia-res e instituciones. Se trata de un tiempo desaldar cuentas y de ocuparse en todas aquellasactividades no realizadas mientras se era activoen el trabajo, en las responsabilidades o en lasactividades propias de la edad adulta. Así, elmito cinematográfico se construye muy par-ticularmente a partir de considerar que esposible burlar la vejez, llevándola en térmi-nos acordes a cánones de representación so-cial correspondientes a etapas anteriores deesa fase de la vida, pues al proceso de enveje-cer se le denota con una fuerte carga negati-va, entendida como decadencia |
| English abstract | The collective construction of oldage according to the cinematographic idea nolonger revolves around death as the mainfocus of this stage of life, but rather on newchallenges and problems that the elderly facewith themselves, their relatives, and withinstitutions. It is a time for settling old sco-res and doing all of those things that theynever did when they were busy working, ful-filling responsibilities, or involved in theactivities of adult life. Therefore, the cinema-tographic myth is constructed very specifi-cally on the basis of considering it possible tomock old age, by doing so in terms in tunewith canons of social representation fromearlier stages of life, because the process ofaging is shown with a strong negative char-ge, understood as decadence |
