| Spanish abstract | El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar algunas características de la población de indios, mestizos, blancos y negros que han convivido en un mismo te-rritorio en la región de la Costa Chica de Oaxaca, México, desde el siglo xvi. Para ello me baso en la información contenida en un censo de población de finales del siglo xix, localizado en el Archivo del Estado de Oaxaca, que proporciona información im-portante sobre las características de las rela-ciones sociales entre los cuatro grupos de población que compartieron y comparten ese mismo territorio |
| English abstract | The objective of this work is to analyze some characteristics of the indige-nous, mestizo, white, and black population that coexisted in a single territory in the region of the Costa Chica of Oaxaca, Mexi-co, beginning in the 16th century. For this end, the author uses information from a population census conducted at the end of the 19th century, held in the Archives of the State of Oaxaca. This document provides important information on the characteris-tics of the social relations among the four population groups that shared and continue to share this same territory |
