| Spanish abstract | Alrededor de la categoría “populismo” suelen articularse todo tipo de ansiedades políticas. Jan-Werner Müller atina al afirmar que la frivolidad en el uso de este concepto ha terminado por volverlo sinónimo de todo aquello que nos desagrada en gobiernos que gozan de amplio apoyo social. Lo cierto es que “populismo” ha sido utilizado en el debate académico y político como un término valorativo antes que como una categoría analítica. En este texto me propongo mostrar que -de cara a desarrollar una teoría correcta sobre el populismo- debemos comenzar por evitar el lenguaje valorativo para en su lugar emprender una tarea analítica. Probaré que se trata de una tarea urgente, cuyo primer paso será diferenciar entre populismo y autoritarismo democrático |
| English abstract | Around the category “populism” all kinds of political anxieties are usually articulated. Wermer or Laclau have been correct in stating that the frivolity in the use of this concept has ended up making it synonymous with everything that we dislike in a government with a large popular base. The truth is that “populism” has been used in academic and political debate as an evaluative term rather than as an analytical category. In this text I propose to show that -in order to develop a correct theory of populism- we must begin by avoiding evaluative language and instead undertake an analytical task. I will prove that such task is the first step to differentiate between populism and democratic authoritarianism |
