Spanish abstract El trasplante de células progenitoras hematopoyéticas tiene como objetivo restablecer la función medular e inmune en pacientes que padecen enfermedades hematológicas tanto malignas como benignas. Uno de los estudios realizados en los pacientes postrasplantados de células progenitoras hematopoyéticas es el quimerismo para determinar la presencia del injerto. Presentamos el seguimiento inmunohematológico de un paciente postrasplante de células progenitoras hematopoyéticas con incompatibilidad ABO bidireccional para leucemia linfoblástica aguda con la finalidad de que el lector comprenda la relevancia de la determinación del grupo sanguíneo para una adecuada práctica transfusional en estos pacientes y así evitar futuras reacciones de tipo hemolíticas y, por consiguiente, la pérdida del injerto
English abstract Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation aims to reestablish the bone marrow and immune function of patients with malignant and benign hematologic disorders. One of the methods used to assess the graft status is the determination of chimerism. The immunohematological follow-up of a patient who underwent bidirectional ABO incompatible hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for acute lymphoblastic leukemia is presented for the reader to understand the relevance of blood group determination and adequate transfusion practices in these patients in order to avoid hemolytic transfusion reactions and loss of the graft
