| Spanish abstract | En este trabajo se aborda la arqueología de la época V de Monte Albán y la presencia de materiales asociados con los mixtecos en los valles centrales de Oaxaca. Después de revisar la interpretación histórica de Alfonso Caso y Roberto Gallegos se analiza el significado de la terminología empleada por estos autores y su resignificación dentro de las contribuciones posteriores de índole antropológica. Los cambios de significado no solo han incidido en la narrativa arqueológica sino en la interpretación de los procesos que vincularon a los mixtecos con la cultura zapoteca |
| English abstract | This paper focuses on the archaeology of period V at Monte Alban and the material culture associated with the Mixtecs in the central valleys of Oaxaca. After revisiting the historical interpretation of Alfonso Caso and Roberto Gallegos, it analyzes the terminology used by these authors and its change of meaning within recent anthropological contributions. This change not only affects the archaeological narrative but the interpretation of the processes that linked the Mixtec with the Zapotec culture |
