| English abstract | The significance of the ballcourt center has never been thoroughly studied. However, the chronicles confirm its symbolism, while the Codex images and the so-called markers provide ample proofs of its importance. The limited amount of evidence and their chronological and spatial distribution only allow identifying a few common elements shared by the different civilizations, the hard core of ballgame symbolism |
