| English abstract | This paper describes the historical development of the reserarch team, who, within the “Gramática do Português Falado” Project, on the process of analysing descriptivelly or theoretically some linguistic facts about standard spoken Brazilian Portuguese, focused on the adverb. This group research worked together for three years. This being together was very important to consolidate the team itself and its approch to linguistics, to guide the search for a rational organization of the words that grammars have labelled under the name of ‘adverbs’, and to clarify the role that word classes should play in a linguistically oriented grammar. Finally, it discusses the scientific character of the investigation described here |
| Portuguese abstract | O presente texto relata o trabalho da equipe que, no interior do Projeto “Gramática do Português Falado”, ao tratar, descritiva ou teoricamente, de algum fato lingüístico do português falado culto do Brasil, sob o aspecto da ordem linear dos elementos, fixou-se no advérbio. O estudo aqui relatado durou três anos e foi muito importante para consolidar a própria equipe e seu modo de fazer lingüística, orientar a busca de uma organização racional das palavras que as gramáticas têm reunido sob a denominação de “advérbios”, e esclarecer o papel que devem desempenhar, numa gramática lingüisticamente fundamentada, as “classes de palavras”.
