| Spanish abstract | Este ensayo aborda el reciente debate suscitado en torno a la literatura sobre el llamado novísimo cine chileno. El objeto del debate no son las cualidades estéticas ni las estrategias de representación de esos filmes, sino el discurso político subyacente que la crítica ha reconocido en ellas. Revisando las dos principales posiciones -una que celebra el giro subj etivo de estas películas y su carácter vanguardista, otra que lamenta la invisibilización de los problemas y contextos sociales en sus representaciones- el ensayo propone que los procedimientos formales de estas películas han servido a la producción de un discurso naturalizador y conservador, que sólo reproduciría el estado actual de las cosas en Chile. |
| English abstract | This essay discusses a current debate on the literature about the so-called newest Chilean cinema. The matter of this it is not the aesthetic qualities nor the strategies of representation of these films, but the underlying political discourse that criticism have recognized in them. Reviewing the two main positions -one that celebrates the subjective turn and the avant-garde shape of these films, another that deplores the invisibilization of problems and social contexts in their representations- the paper proposes that the aesthetics procedures of these films have served to the production of a naturalizing and conservative discourse. |
