| English abstract | This article presents some aspects of the life trajectory of Lino Guedes (1897-1951), giving special attention to his role in the newspaper Progress. From the paths (and strayings) taken by this journalist, poet and black activist, one can learn that – despite all the difficulties, tensions, ambiguities and contradictions– a portion of the descendants of Africans in the Brazilian diaspora gainedsocial and cultural status without having to dispense with their racial consciousness |
