| Spanish abstract | En este ensayo se analiza la relación entre dos pensadores pioneros en los estudios sobre lo imaginario: Roger Caillois y Gaston Bachelard. Ambos autores, desde distintas perspectivas, compartieron su interés y preocupación por las manifestaciones del imaginario en el arte, el mito y lo sagrado. De acuerdo con ciertas ideas surrealistas y el devenir científico, criticaron la lógica positivista y propusieron el estudio de lo imaginario. Roger Caillois, en el marco del Colegio de Sociología delineó un programa enfocado en el análisis del mito, lo sagrado y el poder. Gaston Bachelard, por su parte estudió algunas expresiones de lo que para él eran los dos polos del psiquismo humano: ciencia y poesía. A partir de una ciencia más abierta y comprensiva, propusieron un acercamiento al imaginario que además, tanto para Bachelard como para Caillois, posee una base biológica. En la obra de ambos pensadores se pone de relieve la importancia de lo imaginario en la vida del hombre y las sociedades, cuestión desarrollada por Gilbert Durand y más tarde por Jean-Jacques Wunenburger |
| English abstract | This essay analyses the relation between two pioneer thinkers in the studies on the imaginary: Roger Caillois and Gaston Bachelard. From different perspectives, both authors shared their interests and concern for the expressions of the imaginary in the art, the myth and the sacred. In agreement with certain surrealist ideas and the scientific becoming, they criticized the positivist logic and they proposed the study of the imaginary. For instance, Roger Caillois, in the framework of the Sociology College, formulated a program focused on the analysis of the myth, the sacred and the power; while Gaston Bachelard, studied some expressions of what meant for him, the two poles of the human psyche: science and poetry. From a more open and comprehensive science, they proposed an approach to the imaginary. The idea of Bachelard and Caillois about the biological basis of the imaginary is also explained. The work of both thinkers emphasizes the importance of the imaginary in the human and social life; topic that has been currently developed by Gilbert Durand and later by Jean-Jacques Wunenburger |
