| Spanish abstract | En este artículo abordamos la novela América, de Franz Kafka, a partir de tres motivos centrales: el paraíso, el paisaje y la lejanía. Intentamos señalar de qué manera el paraíso y el mundo terrenal recorren paralelamente la trama de la novela. La descripción del paisaje nos ofrece una ventana al paraíso, pero inevitablemente regresamos al mundo terrenal. Se trata de un diálogo contrapuntístico entre el paraíso y la tragedia, donde la mujer entraña ambos, una puerta al paraíso, y la expulsión de éste |
| English abstract | In this article we discuss Franz Kafka’s novel America from three main topics: paradise, landscape, and distance. We intend to point out how paradise and the earthly world are present throughout its plot in a parallel form. The landscape descriptions offer a view to paradise, but we inevitably go back to the earthly world. It is a contrastive dialogue between paradise and tragedy, where women represent a door to paradise and a banishment from paradise at the same time |
