| English abstract | Identifying stimuli that may function as reinforcers is crucial for successful intervention for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Video modeling has effectively taught caregivers and staff who work with this population to implement preference assessments. One of the advantages of this procedure is that it does not require the presence of an instructor, reducing the costs of training the implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions. However, content validation of videos is rarely described by studies that used video modeling. Considering the need to expand caregivers and staff training on ABA interventions, the purpose of the current study was to produce and access the validity of a video in Portuguese to teach the implementation of the paired‐stimulus preference assessment. Initially, a task analysis was carried out to identify the necessary steps to the correct execution of a paired‐stimulus preference assessment. Then, we produced a video containing a written description of each one of the steps identified through the task analysis. The description of all the steps was followed by a depiction of a full paired-stimulus preference assessment. Finally, six professionals with different areas of expertise viewed the video and answered a questionnaire evaluating its content. They were asked whether the video depicted each of the steps necessary to conduct the preference assessment in the written description and the example of a full assessment. They indicated that the video had all the steps required to perform the assessment. Also, they suggested a few modifications that were made to improve the comprehensibility of the information presented in the video. Considering that the professionals’ report is not enough to prove the video’s effectiveness, it is necessary to evaluate its effects on the implementation of a paired-stimulus preference assessment |
| Portuguese abstract | A videomodelação tem se mostrado eficaz para ensinar cuidadores e profissionais que atuam com pessoas com Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) a conduzirem avaliações de preferência. Entretanto, a validação do conteúdo dos vídeos é raramente descrita por estudos que utilizaram esse procedimento. O objetivo do presente estudo foi produzir e validar um vídeo, em língua portuguesa, para ensinar a condução da avaliação de preferência com pares de estímulos. Inicialmente, realizou-se uma análise de tarefas, que identificou 15 passos necessários para a condução dessa avaliação. Em seguida, produziu-se um vídeo que apresentava uma descrição escrita de tais passos, seguida de uma demonstração da condução de uma avaliação completa. Ele foi validado por seis profissionais de diferentes áreas que afirmaram que o vídeo exibe os passos necessários para a implementação de uma avaliação de preferência com pares de estímulos. Eles, também, sugeriram alterações que foram realizadas para explicitar a descrição de alguns passos. Considerando que o relato dos avaliadores não é suficiente para atestar a efetividade do vídeo, faz-se necessário verificar se a exposição a ele levará a uma aplicação correta dos passos dessa avaliação |
