| English abstract | By confronting the answers given by speakers from Florianópolis with those given by speakers from Porto Alegre, São Paulo and Curitiba to the metalinguistic questions posed by the project Atlas Linguístico do Brasil, we aim to: a) identify what those questions can reveal as to the linguistic awareness and attitude of the interviewed speakers; b) put forward and test the construction of a methodological artifact to measure/quantify subjective metalinguistic evaluations. We have verified that the answers to the metalinguistic questions can not only help verify speakers’ degree of linguistic awareness, but they have the essential role of revealing linguistic attitudes, which colaborates to the perception of the implementation or the extinction of variants. We were also able to demonstrate that it is viable to group together issues related to linguistic awareness, to establish criteria in order to classify the answers given by the informants and to measure the index of linguistic awareness of speakers from a certain region or group |
| Portuguese abstract | Confrontando as respostas de falantes de Florianópolis, com aquelas de falantes de Porto Alegre, São Paulo e Curitiba às questões metalinguísticas propostas pelo Projeto Atlas Linguístico do Brasil (AliB), procuramos: a) identificar o que as questões metalinguísticas podem nos revelar sobre a consciência e a atitude linguística dos falantes entrevistados; b) propor e testar a construção de um artefato metodológico para medir/quantificar avaliações metalinguísticas subjetivas. Observamos que, mais do que servir para verificar o grau de consciência linguística dos falantes, as respostas às questões metalinguísticas têm o papel essencial de revelar atitudes linguísticas, colaborando para a percepção da implementação ou da extinção de formas em variação. Conseguimos também demonstrar que é viável agrupar questões relacionadas à consciência linguística, estabelecer critérios para classificar as respostas dadas pelos entrevistados e medir o índice de consciência linguística dos falantes de uma determinada região ou grupo |
