| English abstract | This article examine the women portrayed by the dutch painter Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675), in order to identify in feminine styles, concepts of beauty and femininity shared by society and seventeenth-century dutch culture. In the women portrayed on sreen, try examine the appearances created by the artist to say, show, demonstrate and diferentiate the female segment. In this analysis, clothing, gestures, faces, spaces (architecture and environments) will be taken as indicative of the resources used by the artist to create characters and tell them apart, according to social class, age and social role. | Portuguese abstract | Este artigo tem por objetivo examinar as mulheres retratadas pelo pintor holandês Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675), com o intuito de identificar nos estilos femininos, os conceitos de beleza e feminilidade compartilhados pela sociedade e cultura holandesa do século XVII. Nas mulheres retratadas nas telas, procuraremos examinar as aparências criadas pelo artista para dizer, mostrar, evidenciar e diferenciar os segmentos femininos. Nesta análise, a indumentária, os gestos, as fisionomias, os espaços (arquitetura e ambiências) serão tomados como indicativos dos recursos usados pelo artista para criar suas personagens e diferenciá-las, consoante à classe social, faixa etária e papel desempenhado socialmente.
