| English abstract | Art teaching constitutes the main point of this study in the confluence between art and education. The thought of the North American educator John Dewey is put into practice in Paraná, by the educators Erasmo Pilotto and Emma Koch, together with other art educators. The support and the adhesion to the proposals and initiatives of a new education lead to the introduction of art teaching, as a motivating element of the process of active and participant learning of the student. The theoretical and philosophical reference is based on Dewey’s educational principles and the method is based on bibliographical sources and records that enable the understanding of the work done by Paraná’s educators, in the development of educational practices through Art, at Art Schools and estate schools in Curitiba |
| Portuguese abstract | O ensino da arte constitui o ponto central deste estudo, na confluência entre arte e educação. O pensamento do educador norte- -americano John Dewey manifesta-se, no Paraná, por meio dos educadores Erasmo Pilotto e Emma Koch, juntamente com outros artistas educadores. O apoio e a adesão às propostas e iniciativas de uma nova educação levam à introdução do ensino da arte, como elemento motivador do processo de aprendizagem ativa e participante do aluno. O referencial teórico-filosófico fundamenta-se nos princípios educacionais de Dewey e o procedimento metodológico tem por base fontes bibliográficas e documentais que possibilitaram a compreensão do trabalho realizado pelos educadores paranaenses, no desenvolvimento da prática educativa pela arte, por meio das Escolinhas de Arte, nos grupos escolares, em Curitiba |
